Volunteer Opportunity: Interns Field Work at Gene Rush WMA

Join AGFC and volunteer for our facilities and programs.

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission staff in the Conservation Support Division are soliciting volunteers to assist with field data collection at Gene Rush wildlife management area. Staff are working on a project investigating the effects of prescribed fire on the environmental transmission of chronic wasting disease. The field work will involve hiking through the woods and collecting white-tailed deer fecal samples. All sample collection gear will be provided. Gene Rush is a beautiful WMA, situated on the Buffalo River - come join us for a great day of hiking and field sampling!

Location: Meet at Carver Cemetery (35°58'48.9"N, 93°02'40.4"W), which is a small cemetery/parking lot right after the turn-off for Gene Rush wildlife management area (Hasty, AR)

Time: 9:30am - 2:00pm (time at Gene Rush, does not include travel to/from) on May 26, 27, and 28. Interns and supervisors can work one, two, or all three days!

To bring: sturdy shoes, comfortable field clothes (ideally breathable long-pants and long-sleeve shirt); sunscreen; hat; plenty of water; lunch and snacks.
