This is where Arkansas Culture and Conservation meets your classroom! Join us for a fun, full-day professional development workshop from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM at Crowley’s Ridge Nature Center. This engaging session will introduce educators to the resources and programming available through A-State Heritage Sites, Sultana Disaster Museum, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Participants will explore place-based learning strategies and hands-on activities designed to bring Arkansas history and culture into the classroom, with connections to the upcoming America 250 commemoration. The workshop will also highlight available grants to support professional development and classroom materials. In addition, educators will hear directly from the education specialist at the Nature Center, gaining insight into educational experiences, grant opportunities, and field trip adventures that align with state standards. Teachers will leave with ready-to-use lesson ideas, new partnership opportunities, and practical tools to enhance student engagement through local history and natural resources. Registration is required and can be done by emailing Penny Tombs at ptoombs@astate.edu.
