AGFC Volunteer Registration

Position Overview

Join the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) as a volunteer and make a meaningful impact on Arkansas’s wildlife and outdoor traditions. Volunteers support a variety of programs, from education and conservation projects to special events and outreach initiatives. Whether teaching skills, maintaining natural habitats, or helping at public events, AGFC volunteers play a vital role in preserving Arkansas’s natural heritage. All adult volunteers begin as AGFC Volunteers. This involves completing two background checks and signing a release of liability. Once approved, you’ll be cleared to participate in most volunteer roles across AGFC programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Support habitat restoration, trail maintenance, or other conservation projects
Help coordinate and run public outreach events or workshops
Act as an ambassador for AGFC’s mission, promoting safety, stewardship, and ethics
Collaborate with AGFC staff and fellow volunteers to ensure program success

Interested in Becoming a Certified Instructor?

Take your volunteering to the next level as a Certified Instructor with AGFC! Along with meeting General Volunteer requirements, you’ll complete additional discipline-specific training with AGFC staff or certified instructors. This training covers how to run classes, create new sessions, manage rosters, and close them out in the system.

Certified Instructors play a vital role in preserving Arkansas’s outdoor traditions and supporting the R3 movement—Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation of hunters, anglers, and shooting sports participants. By teaching safe, ethical, and conservation-minded practices, instructors help ensure that the skills, values, and stewardship ethic of the hunting and angling community are passed down to future generations.

Once certified, you can lead and teach advanced classes in the following programs.

Angler Education
Boater Education
Youth Shooting Sports
National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP)

People interested in becoming a Certified Instructor should email the AGFC Volunteer Team. The volunteer coordinator for the program you're interested in will contact you, set up a time for training, and help you get started teaching AGFC classes.

Application Requirements

• Maximum Age: 99
• Submit AGFC Volunteer Background Check Packet
• Submit AGFC Volunteer Release Form

About Your Application and Renewals

This is a general volunteer position with AGFC. To participate, you’ll need to submit two background checks and a release of liability. These documents must be renewed every five years.
