Beginning Fishing: Casting for Success

Event Description

Want to learn how to go fishing but not sure how to begin? This class will provide you with the basic information to get started. Appropriate for all ages, we will cover rod and reel types, basic fish biology, bait and lure selection, and how to tie two fishing knots. All materials are provided.

It’s free fishing weekend in Arkansas and fishing is a favorite pastime for many Arkansans. Proficient casting plays an essential role in being an effective angler. Join us on the front lawn on June 13th from 10-12 to learn all about basic casting techniques, then put your skills to the test by playing our casting game! Participation will earn you a prize inside the nature center. Afterwards, put your new skill to use and get out on the water and enjoy Arkansas's Free Fishing Weekend! Recommended for ages 5-16 and registration is recommended.
