Birdwatching: Spring Break Bird Walk

Birdwatching: Spring Break Bird Walk

Event Description

This class is designed to find and identify birds that call Arkansas home, whether that be all year long or just for a few weeks as they migrate through. We will discuss AGFCs ongoing reward-based program (Wings over Arkansas) that identifies these numerous feathered creatures in the state. We will also look at the tools that aren't necessarily needed but highly recommended to find and identify birds. These tools can be field-based, like binoculars and field guides, or electronic-based, like EBird, Merlin, Audubon, or other apps that may help identify or document.

More Information

Join an educator for a short walk along our native plant garden to see which birds or evidence of birds are in our area.

We will announce this presentation 5 minutes before it starts in the exhibit hall before heading to the classroom to go over birding basics, birding ethics and safety while birding. Participants will then go outside and we will walk the length of the nature center and a little further into the Julius Breckling Riverfront Park to see which birds are active during Spring Break. In the event of harsh weather there will be an indoor activity. We can also "bird" in the nature center.
