Nature journaling is a fantastic way to get away from our everyday hustle and bustle; and a great way to practice patience, observational skills, and creative expression. It is an opportunity to get outside and experience our natural world. Nature journaling can help: Improve mood, gain mental clarity, unplug from technology, boost memory, reduce stress levels, practice presence, improve critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and deepen one’s appreciation for nature. Nature Journaling is a great activity for kids as well; supporting lessons in both literacy, math, science, and more! Observation, writing, sketching, data collection, sequencing, and reflection are just a few of the many useful skills students may use while journaling.
Join us to learn basic journaling techniques and use activities from PLT to enhance your journaling skills. This will be a hands-on, interactive program conducted indoors and out and will include arts, crafts, and lesson planning ideas. Workshop qualifies for 6 hours of ADE-approved PD. PLT's interdisciplinary curricula aligns with the High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) frameworks for outstanding supplemental materials and supports the Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Outdoor Education Initiative.
$10 per person payable at the workshop. Each participant will receive PLT’s Explore Your Environment K-8 Activity Guide containing 50 interdisciplinary activities correlated to state and national education frameworks (retail value $45).
For questions or to register: email your name, contact info, along with the name/date/location of the workshop to rbeadel@arkforests.org.
